Police Arrests Hospital Workers Over Alleged Removal Of Parts Of  91yrs Female Corpse

It was protest galore on Monday at Ibadan Central hospital, at Ososami area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital over an alleged removal of some parts from the corpse of a 91years old woman .

New Nigerian learnt that the protest reared its head following an alleged removal of the parts of the corpse overnight by yet to be identified persons.

During the protest, youth from around the area and children blocked the entrance to the street leading to the hospital, demanding to know those that removed some parts from their aged mother.

It was gathered that the 91 year old woman identified as  Rachel Osuntolu was admitted into the hospital over a week ago and  died Sunday, morning (October 30) in the hospital around 8pm.

Upon the death of the 91yrs old woman, it was learnt that  some of her children said to be at the hospital as at the time of her death reportedly resolved to keep the corpse in the hospital till early Monday for necessary steps towards moving the corpse to the mortuary.

However, on arrival at the hospital early Monday, the children were said to have noticed blood stains  on the floor of the room where the  corpse of the 91years old woman was being kept.

They were said to have rushed into the corpse only to discover that some pounds of flesh on the woman’s forehead and arm have been removed.

New Nigerian gathered that it was at this juncture that the children raised alarm of the removal of parts of their mother’s corpse which in turn attracted other people into the hospital leading to protest.

Contacted, the Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Adewale Osifeso confirmed that the matter was reported to the Police by a son of the 91 years old woman, Osayintolu Henry  regarding the deposited corpse of his late mother, Boluade Racheal Osayintolu.

“Today being Monday 31/10/2022 at about 0730HRS. Upon receipt of complaint by one Osayintolu Henry ‘M’ son of the deceased, regarding the deposited corpse of his late mother, Boluade Racheal Osayintol.

The complainant alleged that his mother who had hitherto been taken to an undisclosed hospital facility in the metropolis for medical intervention on Sunday 30/10/2022, died at the facility and was deposited at its morgue therein, only to find parts of her  forehead and upper right arm flesh cut off from the body.” he said.

The PPRO added, “arrests have been made and Investigations has since commenced with deployment of ample Police personnel to forestall possible occurrences of  breakdown of law and order.”
