Oyo Police Arrests Suspected Yoruba Nation Agitators  Over Allegedly Ambushing OYSIEC Officials

Three  suspected Yoruba Nation agitators are now in Police net in Oyo State for allegedly attacking officials of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

The Yoruba Nation agitators were said to have been arrested by security operatives on Saturday in Ayete,  Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo State during the state local government election 

It was learnt that the Yoruba Nation agitators reportedly attacked the OYSIEC officials said to be conveying voting materials to various polling units in Ayete and its environs.

The Chairman of Ibarapa North local government, Hon Lateef Akorede, said the suspected Yoruba Nation Agitators allegedly attacked the OYSIEC officials 

He stressed that the Yoruba’ Nation agitators allegedly ambushed the OYSIEC officials and hijacked election materials from them .

Hon Akorede stressed that men of the Nigeria Police Force arrived the scene as the Yoruba Nation agitators were about escaping with the materials and arrested them.

“On Thursday we received an intelligent report that some strange faces have been parading Ayete community. We alerted security operatives about the report we got”, he said. 

The Chairman added, “Today (Saturday), when local government elections were about to commence, the suspected Yoruba Nation agitators ambushed OYSIEC officials and hijacked election materials from them”

“Officers of the Nigeria Police Force swung into action swiftly and got them arrested. Dangerous weapons and charms were recovered from them and they had since been detained by the Police.”
