How Traffic Robbers Machete Lagos DPO, Rob Her Of  Phone On Highway

Three suspected traffic robbers that allegedly robbed a Divisional Police Officer attached to Lagos State Police Command of her mobile phone and inflicted machete cut injury on her have been apprehended by police operatives.

New Nigerian Newspapers reliably gathered that the police chieftain, CSP Abaniwonda Tokunbo, who is the DPO of Alausa Police Station, was attacked by the hoodlums on the Otedola  bridge along Lagos Ibadan expressway while on sting operation on 9th April, 2024 at about 10.00pm.

Armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, the thugs were said to have suddenly emerged from their hideout, macheted the senior police officer at the back, forcefully snatched her Samsung S22 phone and made away with it to an unknown place.

Luck was said to have however ran out on  them when they were sighted in their hideout at an hotel in Akute , Ajuwon area of Ogun State following intelligence on 13th April, 2024 at about 10.00am.

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident in a release made available to our correspondent today.

He said the suspected robbers were arrested by police detectives attached to Alausa Division following who moved swiftly to the hotel following intelligence report.

Hundeyin identified one Tochukwu Nonso, 29, as the ring leader of the gang, who was apprehended along with one Chidera Christopher, 25, in the hotel with the stolen phone recovered from them. 

According to him, further efforts led to the arrest of the third suspect identified as Richard Etim, 25.

The police image maker added that further investigation revealed that the ring leader has been robbing on the Otedola bridge for the past five years, while changing his boys during every  robbery operations.
