Unidentified gunmen have killed another Ebubeagu security operative in Ebonyi, while others sustained various degrees of injuries.
It was gathered that the incident took place at Okposi community, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, at 11pm on Sunday night.
The victim, whose name was given as Joseph Nwanja, was said to have been gunned down, at a checkpoint in the area.
A source said, “This man was shot dead at Okposi, Ohaozara LGA of Ebonyi State at 11pm by unknown gunmen while he was on duty as Ebubeagu officer.
“His name is Joseph Nwanja. It happened yesterday, Sunday.”
When contacted for his reaction, the Commander of Ebubeagu Security outfit in Ebonyi State, Mr.Friday Nnanna Ujor, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers came from Ugwulangwo in the same Ohaozara to Okposi, around 11:30pm, where they launched attack on the checkpoint and killed one of the Ebubeagu security personnel.
He informed that his remains have been deposited in a mortuary, while investigation is ongoing.
Sources equally informef that the gunmen had written a letter stating that no election nor political activities shall be allowed in Ohaozara LGA.
