The Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adm. Olusola Oluwagbire has said  that the command has rejigged its operations to smoke out sea pirates from Nigeria’s territorial water ways.

Oluwagbire during his inspection visit to the Navy facilities in Akwa Ibom State on Thursday, warned sea pirates to stay clear of Nigerian waterways, especially in his area of responsibility in the state.

“We are coming to smoke sea pirates out of the waterways, we will get them and we will roast them,” FOC said.

He explained that he was in Akwa Ibom as part of his maiden inspection of base and units of the naval command since his assumption of office.

Oluwagbire urged the Commander NNS Jubilee in Ikot Abasi to rejig the operations of the command, and ensure  effective coverage of the waterways.

He called on the public to give useful information to the Command in order to assist in eliminating the criminal elements from the society.

“If you see something, share with the security agencies, so that it can help better the society.

“We are together, we will do it and make the waterways safe and better,” Oluwagbire said.

The highlights of visit was inspection of Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, Mbo LGA, Proposed Naval Barracks, Essene, Ikot Abasi LGA, Nigerian Navy Military School, Ikot Ntuen, Akwa Ibom, and newly acquired Girls Model Secondary School at Awa Ubium in Onna LGA and Utaewa, an out post station in Ikot Abasi LGA.
