Nigeria Football Supporters Club has unveiled Pillar of Sports in Nigeria, Chief Donatus Agu- Ejidike JP as one of its national patrons.
In an impressive ceremony held at the National Secretariat of the club in Lagos, national chairman of the Club Rev. Samuel Ikpea explained that his choice was based on his track record as a philanthropist, grassroots sports promoter and his support for football generally which has benefitted the youths in all the six geo- political zones of the country.
“We’ve seen all that he’s doing in the area of grassroots sports development and philanthropy. He has used his God given wealth to put smiles on the faces of many Nigerian youths through his sponsorship of many sporting events in many parts of the country and we feel we need somebody like him as our patron”, he stated.
In his acceptance speech, Agu- Ejidike noted that he was highly excited to be considered worthy for such a noble honour and warm reception promising to help the club move forward as well as involve it in all his sponsored national competitions.
“The Nigeria Football Supporters Club has deemed it fit to bestow on me this honour of patron which I consider as a rare one. I appreciate you all for this kind gesture and assure you of my support in all your activities and would gladly involve you in all my sponsored national competitions.
He also gave kudos to the club’s leadership under Rev. Ikpea for the heart- warming music they render to the various national teams that charges and ignites the atmosphere and for also being an award winning supporters club in the world just as he called for unity among members to help the club move forward.
High point of the event was a donation of two trumpets to the club by the patron with a promise to do more for the club.
