Over 12,000 Combined Security Personnel Deployed For Oyo Lg Election – CP Hamzat

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Adebola Hamzat on Friday, disclosed that over 12,000 combined security personnel have been deployed to the 33 local governments in the state for the Sate elections.

CP Hamzat made this known in Ibadan at a joint press briefing by the Police,  Sister security agencies, OYSIEC and other relevant stakeholders held at the Oyo state Police Command, Eleyele, Ibadan.

The Police Commissioner stated that the over 12,000 combined security personnel are to fortify operations in all the 33 local government areas during and after the Saturday polls.

CP Hamzat maintained that of the over 12,000 deployed security agents, 8,000 are from the Police, 2,125 from sister agencies while remaining are from other agencies excluding the military.

Assuring residents of Oyo state of their safety during and after the conduct of the election, CP Hamzat promised to lead the security monitoring team to some parts of the state on Saturday, adding that 

necessary security measures have been put in place to ensure a hitch free election .

The Commissioner of Police hinted that there would be restriction of vehicular movement till the 18;00 hours during which the voting exercise would last.

The Chairman of Oyo state Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Olagunju, (SAN) while speaking condemned  activities of the suspected political hoodlums that invaded Okeho office of OYSIEC

Aare Olagunju (SAN) said none of the election materials were tampered with during the attack and that the Commission is fully prepared for the election.
