The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria branch has began its 2024 SSANU ABU Week with series of lectures.
Declaring the Seminar opened, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Kabiru Bala charged members to remain committed in their legitimate struggle.
Bala who was represented by the Director Centre of Excellence, Professor Auwal Haruna said the theme of the seminar is apt and timely.
Prof. Kabiru Bala urged members to appreciate the topics selected for the seminar in order to reawakened members to start preparing for their retirement.
According to him, with the current situation in the country’s Public service one should think of what to do before the time of living the service.
In his remarks, the National Vice President of the association North West, Comrade Aliyu A. Adamu expressed satisfaction with the ABU branch for choosing to train its members on how to maintain themselves when they retire.
Comrade Adamu said this kind of lecture is an on going in the union activities in all member universities in the country,
He advised the ABU SSANU branch not to relent on the programmes which is aimed at promoting knowledge among it’s members.
Also in his message, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli congratulates SSANU for organising the lecture series.
The emir was represented by the District Head of Basawa, Arc. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli, Barde Kerarriyan Zazzau, who urged members to make use of the Lecture for their own benefit for their future.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman SSANU/ABU Branch Comrade Muhammad A. Yunusa over the years the Executive members has diligently worked to uphold the values and objectives of the association, steering them towards greater success and progress.
He said, the branch leadership has been instrumental in steering the Union towards greater heights and influence.
Comrade Yunusa said, this year’s seminar is not just a routine gathering but a platform for them to delve into critical matters that affect the well being of their members.
According to the Chairman, through proper sensitisation and education the association can be equip with knowledge and tools necessary to maintain good health and well-being,
He said by sensitising members on retirement planning and the importance of Financial preparedness.
The theme of the lecture is, “Financial Planning and Emotional Well-Being In Retirement; A Comprehensive Guide for Civil Servants”.
