Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani has tasked athletes and officials representing the state at the 7th National Youth Games (NYG).
Governor Sani gave the charge on Thursday, while addressing Team Kaduna athletes and officials ahead of their departure for the 2023 NYG, billed for Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner of Sports Development, Professor Ben Gugong, said that the athletes do not have a reason not to excel.
“We are believing that as you go to Asaba, you will win gold medals in your respective events.
” I am speaking on behalf of the governor, who has promised to reward those that win medals, as well as hosting the entire team on a reception on your triumphant return from the National Youth Games,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Director of Sports Kaduna State, Yakubu Ibrahim told the athletes that the best is expected of them, following the welfare provided by the state.
Shortly after, kits, including branded track suits, canvass, caps and other items were presented to all athletes and officials on the contingent.
It would be recalled that Kaduna State at the North West Zonal Eliminations, dominated, hence claiming most of the tickets, swelling its number of athletes billed for the NYG to almost 300.
