300 Perish In Morocco Earthquake

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake has ripped through a city centre in Morocco, killing at least 300 persons.

The earthquake occured around 9pm local time on Friday,  with an epicenter at High Atlas Mountains Area of the historic city of Marrakesh, sending tremors and vibrations beyond 70 km radius, according to the country’s interior ministry.

The authorities in Morocco also put figures of the injured in the early night disaster at 150.

A survivor described the scenes of the natural disaster as deadly, chaotic and terrible as women and children scampered for safety amidst trembling and sinking buildings in the old city of Marrakesh.

Rescue efforts are ongoing for survivors from the rubbles of collapsed and caved in buildings.
