A one-day interactive session organised  by Think Tank Group Organisation with youth of Kantin Agah and Black Street in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State took place on Friday,  with a view to train and engage the youth in various skills to curb social vices in the society.

The chairman of the group, Mr Don Olivera Idihosa, while speaking to New Nigerian, said, “We have come to understand that with proper training and by engaging the youths in different skills, many of them will stop all manners of social vices that have become the order of the day among them and become better citizens to themselves, families and the society at large.”

According to him, “As a group, we have taken upon ourselves to identify these youths who for one reason or the other found themselves into drugs and other social vices with a view to know their problems and how to come in in order to give them hope by training them into various skills that will make them to be better citizens in the society.

“We have various skills like welding, carpentry, fashion design and many others that they can fit in base on their areas of interest. We believe that if properly trained, they will become better citizens to themselves and the society because for one reason or the other, some of them found themselves into what they are today, and so, there is hope that some could be future leaders of tomorrow if properly harnessed.”

Those among them that are into drug addiction, he said, “We want to disabuse their minds that hope is lost, they can be trained and before you know it, they will stop such practices and become better citizens and contribute to wellbeing of the country.”

According to him, the programme is organised mainly for the youths that have found themselves in different kinds of wayward lives with a view to make an impact in their lives and give them hope of a better living.

He said, “Our activities as a group is geared towards a better society, quality leadership and good governance in the society because we believe to have a good society where the youths must be properly trained and take good care of. The youths are the leaders of tomorrow and so, they should be arrested and be given proper attention for a better tomorrow in the country.”
