Egbema Youths in Warri North Local Government Area Of Delta State have threatened to blow up oil installations as a sign of solidarity with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) staff protesting over poor welfare, just as the Host Communities of Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) threw its weight behind the demands of the protesting Staff.
Speaking on Thursday, the group spokesman Gbomo Torofai said the action was coming on the heels of complaints from DESOPADEC staff over poor conditions of service.
In his words “Since the staff are the major stakeholders in the oil producing communities, there is no rationale why the Board and Management of DESOPADEC refused to pay what is due to them.”
According to him, “We will not hesitate to blow up all oil installations in our domain to show our determination and resolve”.
He further concluded by saying that we are taking this action in support of our brothers and sisters.
Meanwhile in a meeting with Chief Wellington Okrika, the Host Communities of Oil and Gas, HOSTCOM ably led by Dr. Peter Ogedegbe has thrown their weight behind the demands of the protesting Staff of DESOPADEC.
Chief Okrika urged the Managing Director, Olorogun Williams Makinde to yeild to the demands of DESOPADEC staff.
