Tatiko Craft Centre To Be Upgraded… Sen Umaru Pays NECO Examination Fees For 40 Students

Forty students of the Tatiko Craft Centre in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State would sit for the 2017 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination organized by the National Examinations Council, (NECO) free courtesy of a waiver by Senator David Umaru.
Sen. David Umaru is the Senator representing the Niger East Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
Mother luck shone on the students when the Senator paid a visit to the Craft Centre to inspect ongoing renovation and upgrading of the the facilities at the centre.
The Tatiko Craft Centre is being upgraded to a model centre for the teaching of vocational skills on pottery, tradional weaving, fabrics, arts and crafts of the Gbagyi people of Niger state.
The Centre is being routed as one of UNESCO’s heritage centres because of its long years of history of existence and it’s undying tradition and history in local crafts, arts, traditional architecture and for tie and dye of traditional Gbagyi fabrics.
Senator Umaru said the gesture is to assist in the education of the students at the centre by helping them to acquire senior secondary school certificates from where they could further their education in their specialized areas of skills.
Head of the Craft Centre, Kabiru Attahiru commended the benevolence of the Senator.
He said the move to upgrade the centre to a status of a model skill acquisition hub, would launch it into the realm of international cultural heritage plaza.
