Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State has called on the people of the state to have confidence in the government as it would do whatever possible to ensure the safety of lives and properties of all the people within the boundary of the state.
He stated this in state security meeting convened to discuss the recent crisis that engulfed Kadarko community in Keana Local Government Area of the state which led to the death of people and killing of over 70 cattle.
” the priority of my Government is to safeguard the lives , and ensure the welfare of all people residing in Nasarawa State” Almakura said.
The governor directed that two units of security forces be sent to kadarko immediately, before additional security is deployed .
He further said that air surveillance would also be deployed to monitor the areas.
The Governor described Nasarawa State as a victim of circumstance stating that the Government was worried about the mass relocation of people from the area, and how such people would cope leaving their homes.
He direct that Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) to bring up what the Government could do for the people.
Expressing concern over the health and feeding of the people, he directed that a mobile hospital be station at Kadaroko to attend to the health needs of the people.
He further directed that all the Community Based Conflict resolution committees start meeting to discuss ways to resolve the issues .
Gov. Almakura stated that he had been in contact with his Benue counterpart to find ways to ease the tension along the boarder of both states.
The Governor challenged security operatives to investigate the issues and get to the root of the matter.
