Police Dismantles Lagos Criminal Hideouts, Apprehends 2 Suspected Fraudsters, Recovers Stolen Laptop

Police operatives attached to the Tactical Squad of the Lagos State Police Command yesterday, dismantled the hideouts of some notorious criminals and cultists, apprehending two suspected fraudsters.

A laptop suspected to have been stolen from a victim was reportedly recovered from the suspects.

The operation, which lasted several hours, was said to have taken place at White Sand area of Orile Iganmu and Badia East in Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the Commander of the Tactical Squad SP Cirman Sunday led the operation which began at about 12.00non.

All the shanties harbouring the criminals, which include “419” syndicates, cultists, armed robbers among others were said to have been set ablaze during the operation.

It was gathered that the dismantled area is renowned for convergence of hoodlums and hideouts of criminals of different shades.

Investigation also revealed that assorted firearms and ammunition have been recovered on several raid operations within the communities and its environ by different security operatives at different occasions.

Our correspondent equally learnt that concerned residents of the area had recently petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, through the Divisonal Police Officer (DPO) Badia Divisional Headquater, complaining about the nefarious act of criminals in the area.

In the petition dated 18th March, 2024 signed by Raymond Tedunjaye, Tunde Omotosho, chairman and secretary respectively, the residents claimed that the hoodlums do gather both in the morning and night at an illicit drug joints in the community to smoke hard drugs, harass residents and impede free flow of movement.

The also said the hoodlums do use the gathering as an opportunity to discuss and hatch plans about their criminal activities.
