Over N1bn Spent On Treating Malnourished Children In Kaduna State – KADENAP

From 2017 to date, not less than one billion Naira has been spent on treating malnourished children in Kaduna State.

This was disclosed at the Agenda For Media Parley On Nutrition Interventions in Kaduna State, held at the Conference Hall Planning and Budget Commission, Kaduna on Thursday July 21, 2022.

Speaking on the overview of interventions in the state, Kaduna Emergency Nutrition Plan (KADENAP) Project Manager,  
Umar Usman Bamalli  explained that the funds were expended  on treating malnourished children with ready to eat therapeutic foods.

He explained that from 2017 to date, as a result of support, the state has treated over 82,000  children suffering malnutrition.

“Supported by UNICEF and Alive and Thrive, the state was able to reach 500,000 people with nutrition messages,” he added.

Bamalli said that also, media was supported in training. 

“We also facilitated increased contributions from local government areas. Every month each contributes 1m Naira to malnutrition issues in the state.

“We also support community volunteers with stipends every month for logistics,” he said.

He used this opportunity to thank supporters of the project, singlng out UNICEF, Alive and Thrive and ARIN Project.

He was optimistic that before 2022 ends all 23 LGAs in the state will be managing acute malnutrition in their respective areas, in a project supported by UNICEF.
