Lagos Police Apprehends 50 Suspects Over Youth, Hoodlums Bloody Clash

At least, 50 suspects are now in police net in Lagos over the bloody clash that ensued between some youths and hoodlums in Abule Egba area of the state.

Several items were said to have been vandalised during the clash which occurred on Thursday over yet to be ascertained disagreement.

Unconfirmed sources attributed the scuffle to supremacy fight between some youths of Yoruba and Hausa extraction over who collects tolls on the shanties where refuses are dumped.

While confirming the arrest of the suspects, the Lagos State Police Command Spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin hinted that they were apprehended by operatives attached to Oke-Odo Division led by its DPO CSP Lekan Ogundare.

He disclosed that normalcy has been restored in the area, while the shanties have been destroyed and the hoodlums effectively dislodged.

It reads, ” Following reports of clashes among some youths and hoodlums in the Ile-Epo area of Lagos State, the DPO Oke-Odo swiftly led his men to the scene, and have since restored normalcy.

“Over fifty suspects have so far been arrested while the shanties they occupied have been destroyed, effectively dislodging them. 

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni has directed the prompt prosecution of the arrested hoodlums and has equally warned that the Command would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the peace, in accordance with the law.”

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), Area Commander Alagbado and other Divisional Police Officers under the Area Command are currently on ground to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
