Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has pledged to give priority to education in order to deepen the country’s development.
Prince Adebayo, expressed this when he held a parley with the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), who visited him in Abuja on Wednesday July 20, 2022.
Prince Adebayo emphasized on importance of education to the nation’s development, urging the students to rise in defence of the education sector.
The presidential candidate further pledged to speak for the interests of the general public and youth through a policy that supports and ensures a smooth educational system.
He also promised to include young Nigerians in leadership positions.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation, who is the National Secretary of the National NANS, Comrade Salahudeen Lukman said that their visit was aimed at interacting with presidential candidates to acquaint themselves with their agenda for the education sector.
Lukman made a case for more funding to the sector, to save it from incessant strikes, while urging the federal government to find a lasting solution to the current industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), that has robbed students of months of academic activities.
