Nasarawa Govt To Take Over State Varsity’s Wage Bill, Donates 10m

The Nasarawa State Government is set to take over the payment of staff salaries of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).


Governor Abdullahi Sule, the Visitor to the university, disclosed this while speaking at the 1st Department of Economics Public Lecture Series at the university in Keffi.
Governor Sule said the decision of the state government to take over the salaries of the University is in recognition of the very prominent position his administration pays to education.
The guest lecturer also made a personal donation of 10 million naira to the department of economics to assist them in hosting subsequent departmental lecture series.
The Governor who delivered the lecture titled, Barayanomics: Economic Planning Imperatives for the Sustainability of States in Nigeria: The Nasarawa State Model dwelled on the economic achievements of the Governor Sule administration since the assumption of leadership in 2019 with positive economic indices as a model for other states to emulate.
In his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed, thanked Governor Sule for the enormous goodwill the University has enjoyed from the Government, noting that it has motivated the University to achieve the successes it is currently recording.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Head of Department, Economics, Dr. Bala Ahmed, while thanking the Governor for personally attending and delivering the lecture, informed that the presentation on Barayanomics will be put into a book of readings for future study by students of economics.
The occasion had in attendance the first executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Distinguished Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, the Emirs of Lafia, Keffi, and Nasarawa. 
Others are the Andoma of Doma, the Odyong Nyenkpa, and a host of other government functionaries and politicians.
