*Coach Odaudu Attributes Success To Rivers Government

Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers continues to fly higher in the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL) Season 4 Sahara Conference in Dakar, Senegal after thrashing US Monastir 84 – 63 on match day 3.

The match was a sharp contrast to the inaugural BAL season game between both teams where the Tunisian team triumphed with 29 points.

From the tip-off, River Hoopers despite winning back to back games while US Monastir lost back to back games, the Nigerian side showed more hunger reflecting in a nine points lead at the end of the first quarter.

In quarter two, the Nigerian team widen the lead to 20 points with little fight back from the Tunisian side up till the end of the game.

Kelvin Amayo, Rivers Hoopers guard commandeered the game with 27 points scored, 9 assists and 5 turnovers.

Meanwhile, Rivers Hoopers coach, Ogoh Odaudu has attributed the success of the team so far to the 100 per cent support of the Rivers State Government.

“Our success is absolutely a result of the full support of the Rivers State Government. We are one of the few teams who enjoy good funding and lack few things, so of course, our way thanking Rivers State Government is to record success on the field of play,” Odaudu explained.

In the other game played on match day three, home team, AS Douanes lost in a keenly contested match to flying debutants, APR of Rwanda by 61 – 66 points.
