An eight-year old girl, Nadia Peter joined thousands of others in participating in the Midas Touch Exclusive “Decency is the New Swag” fashion show, held at the Eldorado Events Centre, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna on Sunday November 28, 2021.
The event, which showcased several models on parade, saw the eight-year old fielding questions from newsmen at the red carpet on the sidelines.
Nadia Peter said she was happy to be associated with the show to send a strong message against indecent dressing.
Also speaking to newsmen, CEO Midas Touch Exclusive, Jerry Isaac David said that over two million Naira was spent in staging the event.
“We spent a little over two million Naira in Organising the event. Only the hall and the decors cost us almost N500,000,” he said.
The organiser of event however, said that what was spent was worth the while, in view of the message they are passing across against indecency.
“Decency is the New Swag is the name of the show. Decency is the acceptable noble way of dressing acceptable by all in the society.
“Now we see many girls dressing with exposed boobs and all that, leading to high cases of rape in the society.
“We want to create a platform for models to let them know they can showcase fashion without exposing their bodies,” he said.
Speaking further, he said that Midas Touch Exclusive trained the models that they featured in the show, and were supported by other models from two other agencies, Self Runway and Onyx Models.
“Our focus is on the young ladies coming up. That they should embrace decency in their dressing habits.
“The target audience of the show is modeling agencies, youth and other organisations so that we can inculcate decent dressing in the society,” he added.
Also speaking, a make-up artiste, James Adams said that they were at the event to showcase themselves and their brands, while seeking patronage
“In fashion industry, decency is avoiding showing sensitive parts of the body. Dress naturally like an African,” he advised.
For 22-yr old Deborah, a model and student of Kaduna State University (KASU), she said that her modelling is about decency and she wants the society to emulate her.
“My message to the society is that don’t expose yourself, nudity doesn’t sell,” she advised.
For Bala Tisan Victor, a 25-year old male model and a student, dressing speaks about ones personality and how the society views the individual.
“In my free time, I model and promote decency. Decency means to dress good in a way that people will view and address you.
“I have been modeling for six years. If you dress well, people will address you well, you dress anyhow, people will address you anyhow,” he submitted.
In her submission, Esther Folashade Jonathan, one of those working for Midas Touch Exclusive, said they are vent on promoting decent dressing.
“As a modeling agent, I try to change the narrative that indecent dressing sells.
“You cannot be indecently fashionable and modest at the same time. However, we want to change the narrative that you can be fashionable and modest.
“The outfits being showcased here, even world-class models can rock them,” she emphasized.
