Makinde Appointing Capable, Credible Hands To Steer Oyo State  Amotekun Affairs – OPC New Era

The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) New Era on Wednesday, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for appointing capable and credible to steer the affairs of the state owned security outfit, Amotekun.

OPC New Era expressed this in a statement to congratulate Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Sikiru Kayode Akande (rtd.) on his appointment as the Chairman of the Board of the Oyo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun.

In the congratulatory message signed by OPC  New Era National Public Relations Officer (PRO), Comrade Adesina Akinpelu and Oyo State Coordinator, Comrade Rotimi Oguntade (a.k.a Olumo), the body also congratulated Mrs. I.E. Akinbode -Secretary of the Board;  Col. Bisiriyu Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) – Commandant and member of the board.

OPC New Era also congratulated the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security CP Fatai Owoseni (rtd.); and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd.), as well as His Royal Highness Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran and others who are statutory members of the Board on their re-appointment by Governor Makinde.

It however, advised Governor Makinde to put more efforts to ensuring security of lives and properties of citizens of the pace-setter state by convening a meeting of all groups having something to do with security in the state.

According to OPC New Era,  there is the need for the state government to ensure that there is a kind of collaboration between Amotekun and other groups working to assist the government on security across Oyo  State as this will go a long way in boosting the security architecture put in place by Governor Makinde.

“The state government should work out a synergy between Amotekun and groups such as OPC, Agbekoya, VGN, local hunters, PCRC, youths organizations, community associations, Omo Adugbo (Area Boys) and so on”.
