ANRIN Commences Training Of Menstrual Hygiene In Kaduna

The World Bank supported Accelerating Nutrition  Results in Nigeria (ARIN), has commenced a training programme in Kaduna State, targeted at young adolescents by providing them with the right information on menstrual hygiene to be able to take care of themselves health wise.

The programme is also targeted for the girl child to maintain a good menstrual hygiene.

According to Dr Zainab Mohammad Idris, the coordinator, “The programme will give them an opportunity to learn .ore about menstrual cycles, to learn more about the challenges around menstruation and some of the things that hinder a girl obtained optimally  their educational goals and objectives.”

The coordinator explained that the programme is aimed at promoting school enrollment and completion up to higher level, stressing that with the training they would have a chance to function well in their learning and give them a good personal hygiene and help them have a good production system.

“By the time they become adults, we expect them to to function very well in the society,” he said.

She stated that the programme being a World Bank funded project, provides services across the state in different communities, households being served with maternal young child and infant mortality by counselling them so that they practice by knowing the kind of food  to feed on.

According to her, children are being provided with the right supplements to enhance and boost their nutrition and improve on their nutrition status, exclusive breastfeeding, among others.

She expressed delight that the programme has made remarkable impact in the state since its inception by young adolescents with the right information of how to take care of themselves in the future.

Earlier, the Adolescent Health and Nutrition Officer, Aishatu Gambo Jakada, said the programme is meant for the utilisation of quality cost effective health services for pregnant mothers, adolescent girls and children under five years of age are benefiting from the programme, which she said has had remarkable impact in communities visited.

She explained that the training which comprises of public, private and students with special needs are from six schools in Kaduna central presently are being trained, adding that zone 1 and 3 would benefit from the same training to update the knowledge of girls in taking good care of themselves.
