A 21-year old man, Musa Lawal of No 40 Unguwan Karfe Zaria City has been remanded in Zaria Correctional Centre for attempted murder by the Chief Magistrate Court Pada, Zaria.
The presiding Judge, Ramatu Dalhatu said with the charges levelled against the suspect, the court can’t try the case because it is under sec. 240,293 and 199 of the criminal Justice Law of 2017 which only a High Court of Justice can try.
She said, the suspect will be remanded, pending the advise from the Ministry of Justice, if found worthy, he would be tried by a High Court of Justice.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Sarki Abdullahi told the court that it is a case between C.O.P Vs Musa Lawal on criminal force with sophisticated weapon and attempted murder and was charged under section 240, 293 and 199 of Kaduna State Criminal Law 2017.
He said on December 14, 2022 at about 14.00 hours, one Muntari Musa arrested Musa Lawal and brought him to Zaria Divisional Police Station Pada, with one sharp knife with blood stains, which he used to stab his father, Lawal Danja twice on his left side of his back, while praying at a mosque at Rimin Tsiwa Zaria.
After reading the F.I.R to Musa Lawal, he said he understands the charges leveled against him.
The prosecutor applied for the remanding of the suspect at the Correctional Centre Zaria under sec. 305 ACJL and also applied for a date.
Chief Magistrate Ramatu Dalhatu fixed January 17, 2023 for further mention and ordered for the remand of the suspect at the Zaria Correctional Centre.
