Katsina Police Arrests Several Criminals

Katsina State Police Command  has arrested several suspected criminals committing various crimes in the state and neighboring states.

The Command under the state Commissioner of Police, 

CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa on July 12, 2023, at about 1430 hours

,raided flashpoints in Yan Taba, Sabuwar unguwa, Tudun Yan Lihidda, and Jan Bango quarters in

Katsina metropolis arrested 24

suspected social miscreants (kauraye).

Commissioner of Police Abubakar Musa while Parading the Suspected Criminals before Journalists at the Command headquarters in Katsina Metropolis said in the course of investigation, a large cache of dangerous weapons, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and spirit solution, among others, were also recovered from the suspects. 

On the foiled kidnap attempt and rescue of kidnapped victims,Commissioner of Police Musa explained that ,”Today, Thursday, July 13, 2023, at about 1230 hrs, information was received that terrorists armed with dangerous weapons such as the AK-47 rifle, shooting sporadically, attacked Hayin Shebau village, Matazu L.G.A., and kidnapped five (5) women and children upon received of the report, promptly, the Area Commander Dutsinma Mobilized the DPOs Dutsinma and Matazu to the scene, where they engaged the suspected terrorist in a fierce gun duel where they successfully foiled the kidnapping attempt and rescued all the kidnapped victims unhurt.”

He said efforts are on with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects as investigation is going.

 However, Speaking on the arrested Suspected notorious informer to terrorists /bandits, he said on 9/7/2023, at about 1540 hours the command succeeded in arresting one Ismail Abubakar alias BB, ‘M, aged 30 years old, of Bugaje town in Jibia local government area

nemesis caught up with the suspect when an intelligence report of his hideout was received, and immediately detectives swung into action and succeeded in arresting the suspect.

 In the course of the investigation, the Katsina state Police Commissioner said the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense and further revealed that he “orchestrated the kidnapping of his friend, for which he received the sum of three hundred thousand (#300,000) naira as his own share of the proceeds of the kidnapping.”

 Similarly, a suspected notorious 

fraudster in possession of counterfeit currencies was also paraded, Commissioner of Police 

Aliyu Abubakar Musa said it was on July 9, 2023, at about 1830

hours the command succeeded in arresting “Bishir Umar, alias Dan Zamfara, ‘m’, aged 28 years old, of Magamar Jibia, Jibia LGA, who specialized in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public using counterfeit currency.”

 Police Commissioner Abubakar Musa reiterated that, nemesis caught up with the suspect when information about his illegal activities was received, where he was trailed and arrested and “upon instant search, the following pieces of suspected counterfeit currency were recovered in his possession: (1) Four (4) pieces of the one thousand naira (N1000) Denomination of Nigerian Currency (2) One piece of Ten thousand (10,000) CFA Niger Republic currency; (3) One piece of the 2000 denomination of the Niger Republic CFA; and (4) One Passport ID card bearing Amadou Salamatou. During the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense.”

 Consequently, he said “On 7/6/2023 at about 1600 hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Alkasim Muhammad, ‘m’, aged 43 years old, of Sharada Phase 3, Kano State, a suspected notorious fraudster that specialized in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public by way of fake bank transfers. Upon receipt if the complaint on the suspect’s nefarious activities, detectives were drafted for investigation, where he was tracked down and arrested at Kazaure LGA, Jigawa State. In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense and mentioned three (3) others now at large, as his accomplice.
