South West Chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) yesterday demanded urgent review of the fuel subsidy removal policy by the Federal Government.

The party made the demand in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Kilamuwaye Badmus in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

According to Mr Badmus while faulting the fuel subsidy removal by the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress, (APC) administration, what President Tinubu-led government told Nigerians was that with the fuel subsidy removal, there would be no scarcity of the products in the market.

The South West NNPP Public Relations Officer stressed, ” but the hardship Nigerians have been subjected to in the past days showed that the petroleum products are still regulated by the Federal Government”.

Maintaining that since the planned removal of the fuel subsidy has failed, Mr Kilamuwaye the best thing for APC-led administration is to carry out urgent review of the policy.

“Nigerians have witnessed untold hardship in the past few days due to the scarcity of petroleum products in the country.Filling stations across the country are closed”, he said.

Mr Kilamuwaye added, “There are fewer cars  and commercial buses on the roads leading to  suffering of workers and commuters. Several students are stranded by the roadside”.

” Few fillings stations selling fuel are doing so at cut throat prices. If you are lucky to get  commercial transportation, you should be ready to pay more than you already budgeted”.

The SW NNPP PRO stressed “This situation has shown that the said fuel subsidy removal by the Tinubu-led administration is a failure, a professional scam and there is the need for the urgent review of the policy.”

” This hardship coupled with high cost of food stuffs have put ordinary Nigerians in tight corner. The APC – led federal government must put on its thinking cap and save the masses from this hardship”.
