Katsîna Governor Commiserates  Victims Of Faskari Bandits Attacks

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has commiserated with the people of ‘Yannasarawa village in Faskari Local Government area of the state over bandits attack which left eight (8) People dead and properties worth millions of Naira burnt.

The bandits who laid siege to the village last week, according to a statement by the Director of Press to Secretary to the Government of the State, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’adua also kidnapped Forty Five (45) persons comprising; Thirty Seven (37) Females and Eight (8) Males who are mostly in Junior Secondary School.

He said Governor Dikko Radda who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari expressed deep sorrow and sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones.

The Governor, he said reiterated his commitment to continuing fighting with the undesirable elements until the state is rid of the banditry and other heinous crimes.

After paying house to house sympathy visit the Secretary to the Government, Barrister Garba Faskari was conducted round the Eight scrap vehicles, Ten houses and Twelve shops that were burnt to ashes by the terrorists.

A member of the vigilante group in the village who sought anonymity said that, “they engaged the bandits when they entered the village around 9:00pm but because they were in numbers and were having sophisticated weapons and ammunition, they (villagers) were forced to retreat.”

 “Despite our weaknesses we were able to count Seven casualties on the part of the bandits,” the Vigilante man claimed.

 Barrister Faskari was told that, nothing was heard about the 45 persons kidnapped as the     abductors did not make any contact.

  Subsequently, a list containing names of those injured, the deceased and the number of properties destroyed was handed over to the Katsina state SGS, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari who promised to deliver the message to the Governor on his return. 

Consequently, people of the area appreciated the efforts being made by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in the fight against terrorism and they further solicited for the deployment of security agents to the village as well as reconstruction of the only road leading to the village from Daudawa town of Faskari local government area.
