Suspected bandits attacked Runji Village, Atyap Chiefdom in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed one Danladi Duduk.

A traditional leader in Runji Community, Mr. Koniyan Ben, confirmed to New Nigerian that the fresh attack was carried out in the afternoon yesterday and killed the victim, whose residence is close to Anglican Church in the community.

New Nigerian recalls that about three weeks ago, the same Runji village was attacked by suspected  militias who killed about 33 people and about 40 houses and other valuables were completely razed down.

He told New Nigerian, “The assailants came through the cover of herds of cattle some few minutes after 2 O’Clock this afternoon and started firing shots using sophisticated guns including a revolver machine gun which scared away all people in the community.

“The attack took only a few minutes after which the assailants rushed back towards the direction of Zango Urban using the cows as cover up and ran away.”

Brig. Gen. Timothy Opurum, the Commander of Sector 7, Operation Safe Haven Kafanchan, had warned that the military will not be distracted in its quest to carry out their professional responsibilities of ensuring the protection of lives and properties.

He had while addressing community leaders in Zango Urban that the military would not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone found to have taken the law into his or her hand in the name of carrying out revenge attacks in the whatever guise.
