Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has set up committees for smooth and effective conduct of the forth coming local government councils elections in the state
However, the party has resolved
to adopt consensus candidates for the up coming local governments elections “unless otherwise,” the state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda disclosed.
The APC stakeholders meeting held at the presidential banquet hall of General Muhammadu Buhari (government) house katsina attracted three former Governors such as:- Barrister Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Honourable Aminu Bello Masari and former Governor of Borno state, Colonel Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd).
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Umaru Radda said consensus was in line with the party’s constitution that provided for either conencus, direct or in direct primaries.
“Consensus was adopted to concretize the unity within the party and entire electorates.the
idea was to further develop the APC towards ensuring easy conduct of the 2027 general elections,” Governor said.
He assured that government would carry alone party officials in ensuring all the planned political policies are directed toward a better lives for the common man.
He appealed to leaders at the local levels and the party elders to pay more attention to what could bring development within the party
The governor said they should bury their differences and put the party first above any personal interest.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda named the committees as that of Election led by the state deputy governor, Faruq Lawal Jobe, screening committee headed by the secretary to the government of the state, Barrister Abdullahi Garba Faskari and appeal committee has a former deputy governor, Tukur Ahmed Jikamshi as chairman.
Similarly, reconciliation committee has the senior special Assistant to the president on political matters Kabir Ibrahim Masari as Chairman while the three zonal level screening committees for katsina, Daura and Funtua were also constituted.
They include:- Katsina zone has Alhaji Yahya Idris A-sasanta as chairman, Daura, Mudassiru Mati as chairman while Funtua zonal screening committee has
Ibrahim Danjuma as chairman.
Governor Radda further disclosed that, the constitution of the party has provided that all the outlined members of the committees are members of the caucus of the party.
He advised that, all the elected members of the state and national Assemblies including senators to ensure only credible candidates are decided during the consensus adopted to agree on flag bearers of the party at the local government elections.
Governor Dikko Radda who said the mandate of the committees takes immediate effect however said the earlier time table in respect of the election had been amended to provide for time for smooth preparations of the election.
