Insecurity: Kebbi Gov Pledges Support To Nigerian Hunters Operatives

Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State has pledged to see that operatives of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) are fully funded and equipped with arms and tools in order for it to checkmate the activities of criminals using forests  to perpetuate crime.

The governor who  was represented by the Special Adviser on Political Affairs and Power, Alhaji Kabiru Sani Giant  spoke to journalists at the ongoing four days departmental training of NHFSS, in Kebbi State yesterday.

According to the governor, operatives of  Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Services, have also helped in curbing criminal activities in Kebbi State, thereby making the state very safe. 

He vowed to speak with President Bola Ahmad Tinubu in order to see that the bill seeking to give legal backing to the group is assented to.

“The governor has also promised to speak with Mr President so that he  signs into law the bill that would establish NHFSS.

“His Excellency has further promised to provide everything ranging from logistics to equipment that you need for the smooth operation of your group, Giant concluded,” he said.

The Director, Security Services in Kebbi, Abdulrahman Usman said that the security challenges facing the state have abated considerably since Governor Nasiru, assumed the mantle of leadership.

According to the director, the governor took certain actions that boosted the morals of security and military personnel in the state.

He added that  apart from purchasing the needed security equipment for security agencies, the governor also paid the backlog of salaries and allowances the state government owed security personnel in the state. 

He further added that Governor Nasiru gave the directive to recruit over 400 personnel’ of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), who were trained on how to use modern weapons in order to assist the Police and Army in combating bandits who  terrorised the state.

He noted that with sustained efforts of the governor, insecurity would soon be a thing of the past.

Speaking to journalists afterwards, Commander, Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS), Kebbi Command, Musa Hussaini Rambo lauded the governor for his efforts in ensuring that NHFSS personnel  got the needed support. 

Rambo while thanking the governor, said that NHFSS still needs communication gadgets, vehicles and monthly allowances for its personnel.
