In a bid to alleviate poverty and illiteracy across Ebonyi State, a None Governmental Organization popularly known as Gideon and Joy Life Leadership Foundation, has offered multimillion scholarship to indigent and vulnerable students across the state.
Addressing the students and other beneficiaries at his country home, Amaeze–Ishiagu in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State, the founder of Gideon and Joy life Leadership Foundation, Dr. Gideon Chidiebere Osi stated that he believes that quality education remains the fastest solution to community development, insecurity and poverty eradication and therefore, charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the scholarship and remain good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria at large,
He added that his desire to change the society spurs the foundation to discover indigent and vulnerable students for the award of scholarship annually.
The Chief Executive Officer of GOSIMA group further explained that 60 beneficiaries of the 2023 scholarship are students of Federal Government Colleges and 44 undergraduates were selected from universities across the country after passing the foundation’s examination.
He also noted that the programme which started in 2008, is the only equalizer between the children of the rich and the poor and will further harness their potentials for posterity sake, saying that the foundation has trained hundreds of people who have graduated while 20 will be graduating this year.
Appreciating the gesture of the renowned entrepreneur, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru reiterated the readiness of his administration to bequeath Ebonyi people with productive education that would place a high premium upon return on investment to the state and the society at large.
Governor Nwifuru who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike described education as the bedrock of societal positive transformation and a tool for personal and societal growth and development.
She said that the impact of quality education towards achieving a harmless society and wealth creation is invaluable and remains pivotal in his administration as contained in his political manifesto tagged, “The People’s Charter of Needs” .
She thanked Dr. Osi for the milestones achieved through his educational foundation and for giving the Ishiagu community and the beneficiaries a dependable future.
