In a shocking incident that took place this morning Friday October   13, at around 10am, an explosion rocked the Badarawa Petroleum and Petrochemicals farm located somewhere close to the Kaduna Refining Petrochemical Company (KRPC)  junction in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Eye witnesses who were present  at the time of the incident, reported a loud explosion, followed by an outrageous fire and smoke from the oil plant, causing the nearby residents to panic.

The Federal Fire Service in response to a call from the oil plant, was quick to respond and thankfully, the ravaging fire was contained before further damage was done.

“We received a call at about two minutes after 10 and we rushed to the scene and we did our best to contain the fire,,” a fire service source said.

Mr James Ada, the caretaker of the oil plant, said that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown and he is thankful that no life was lost.

In his words, “the place is currently rented by some people, I don’t know their name, but we were just carrying out our normal duty as oil was being transferred from an oil tank to the tank farm and before we knew, we heard the ‘boom’ of the explosion.”

He said that he was grateful that no life was lost, revealing however,  that one person was affected and has been hospitalized, even though it wasn’t a life threatening situation.

“He just fainted from the shock but is currently at the general hospital and is responding well to treatment,” he explained.
