In some parts of kano communities, young girls have adopted  caps making as another means of  self-reliance during weekends, where the little girls were seen in groups, sewing caps that generate income whenever on holidays and weekends.

Our correspondent who monitored how some little girls embrace self-reliance, reports that many girls have saved money from the sales of their caps for Sallah festival, which is a great development especially at this trying period.

Speaking to New Nigerian at Dungurawa Town, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Zahra’u Auwal disclosed that a good and well sewn cap is sold for 4,500 Naira, while the dealers sell each cap between 12,000 to 20,000 after branding it and packaging.

Similarly Sadiya Abdullahi said that,  “we gather here to sew our caps till evening whenever it is weekends or after the school hours, and if I  successfully   sew about three caps in two weeks,  I get 12,000 after I  remove all the money I bought sewing materials which is a great progress,” she added.

Malama Aishat Mohammed said that sewing caps  is very profitable,  especially at present, when there is good marketing where big dealers buy thousands of unbranded caps from them at the rural communities for exportation and sales in large cities and markets.
