Hoodlums Kill 2 Kogi Officers, Others Injured

The Kogi State Police Command has lost two of its personnel to hoodlums while several others sustained various degrees of bullet wounds midweek on Agbaja Road, following gun battle between the two camps.

The command said that the gunmen ambushed the police patrol team and suddenly sprang up from their hideout and attacked the patrolling team when they were sighted by the marauding beasts.

In a press release made available to journalists in Lokoja, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, said the Police received the unfortunate report of attack on the Police patrol team along Agbaja Road, Lokoja.

“However, the Command lost two of its personnel during the gun duel with the hoodlums as they fled before the belated re-enforcement team arrived”, the command spokesman said.

The statement further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Akeem A. Yusuf  immediately deployed a team of tactical operatives to the area with a view to  trailing and  apprehending them.

“He further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation to commence investigation into the incident.” the press statement said.

The Commissioner of Police also used the medium to call on the people of the area to assist the Police with credible information on the identity of the hoodlums to enable the command curtail their a

criminal excesses.
