The ICT Center with Mini Theatre built by NNPC/TOTALENERGIES at Federal College of Education (FCE) Zaria has been commissioned and handed over to the college management.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli represented by the District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Abdulkadir Magaji Sarkin Yaran Zazzau lauded the sponsors of the project for a well-done job.
Emir Bamalli commended the sponsors for taking their corporate responsibility projects to the premier college of education and expressed desire to see more of such projects.
In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Prof. Kabiru Bala, said FCE and the university are one.
He said they have long collaborations on various degree programmes and at one time, they oversaw the running of the institution before it finally stood on its own.
Prof. Bala said in October this year, the two institutions will jointly celebrate their 60th anniversary .
Earlier in his address, the Provost FCE Zaria, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe represented by the Deputy Provost, Malam Haliru Musa, said their gratitude cannot be quantified for the unsurpassable public spirit exhibited by the oil giant in providing the college an ICT center in this age when the college is undergoing digital revolution.
He said the college was recently named a center of excellence for technology enhanced learning by TETFUND.
Dr. Balarabe also said that it is an epoch making event in which a public and private organizations jointly undertake a project that reinforces the efforts of the college in achieving its vision of becoming a pacesetter in teacher education especially as it relates to technology enhanced learning.
According to him, “this monumental edifice will assist and facilitate teaching, learning and research to staff, students and members of the college community.”
