Detectives Sweep Lagos Traffic Robbers, Cultists, Apprehends 32

Efforts of the Lagos State Police Command at ridding the state of criminal elements have recorded further boost following the arrest of no fewer than 32 suspected traffic robbers and cultists. 

Various offensive weapons which include hammer, axes, locally made double-barrel, twenty-two live cartridges, two expended cartridges, two 9ml live cartridges and a locally made pistols were recovered from the suspects.

Eleven out of the suspects, alleged to be traffic robbers, were apprehended by operatives attached to Badia Police Station, led by the Divisional Police Officer CSP Ayoola Olawole.

They include Kasim Ibrahim, 20, Sharafadeen Isiaka ,25, Kingsley Okpolo ,42, Toheeb Dauda,19,  Al-Amin Ahmed ,19, Waheed Fisaur,19, Ariyo Taofeek, 20, Quadri Azeez ,22, Ibrahim Ajomagberin ,27, Ibrahim Ali, 29 and Babagana Ulama ,24.

According to report, the suspects were caught in the act while attacking motorists under the Ijora bridge leading to Apapa Wharf.

The Lagos State Police Command Spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the arrest at the Command Headquarters Ikeja on Thursday, said they will be arraigned in court  immediately after the parade.

Commenting on the suspected cultists, Hundeyin, who paraded the suspects on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa disclosed that eight were arrested at Ipakodo in Ikorodu area of the state.

He identified them to include Akinwale Abiodun 31, Shola Salawokara ,36, Adewunmi Adeniyi, 33, Ganiu Gbadamosi, 37, Nojim Kasamotu ,32, Abraham Abuba ,39, Agoro Ariyo ,18 and Awotehinde Sikiru ,39.

Hundeyin explained that three others were nabbed in Oshodi area of the state, with one identified as one Oluwatosin Adebimpe, 31, popularly known as Seventy, arrested in Itire area of Isolo.

Identifying the two others as 39-year-old Razak Agbabiaka and 32-year-old Saheed Olaolokun, the police image maker hinted that investigations showed that the suspects have been operating across the state and environs and causing unrest for a period of time.

The police spokesperson hinted that the Commissioner of Police  had charged the police tactical units to take battles to the doorsteps of cultists, which led to the arrest of three notorious cultists in the Isolo area of the state.

He also disclosed that the tactical unit of the command arrested another set of suspects in the Magbon Area of Badagry , adding that one of them identified as, Ademefun Jamiu, 27, is a cultist in Abattoir.
