Detectives attached to Lagos State Police Command have recovered a stolen vehicle in Kaduna State, New Nigerian Newspapers has learnt.

Two receivers of stolen goods were also said to have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The breakthrough, was consequent upon a discreet and intelligence investigation by the detectives which led them to Kaduna, where vehicle and the suspects were arrested.

Our correspondent gathered that the vehicle, a Toyota Hilux was carted away  by armed robbers in Ilupeju area of Lagos, in connivance with one of the security guards.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa made the disclosure on  Thursday at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, while briefing newsmen on the breakthrough recorded by the command.

Represented by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Commissioner said,   ‘The Toyota Hilux was actually on a car stand, and two people came in the middle of the night to rob and cart away this vehicle. It later turned out that one of the robbers is actually a security guard employed by the owner of the car stand,” he said.

“On the day of the robbery, he was off-duty. He, however, connived with one other to come and rob the place leaving the security on guard seriously injured while they took away the Toyota Hilux’, Hundeyin explained.

‘We swung into action immediately we got the information, and we were able to recover the vehicle in far-away Kaduna State and also arrested two receivers in whose custody we found the vehicle.

“The main perpetrators are on the run, but we are closely monitoring their location, and very soon, they will be apprehended.”
