President Muhammadu Buhari attended the wedding fatiha of the son of Oyo State Governor, Idris Ajimobi and the daughter of Kano State Governor, Fatima Abdullahi Umar Ganduje with Senate President, Bukola Saraki, APC leader, Bola Tinubu and 22 states governors and Alhaji Aliko Dangote as well as other prominent personalities in attendance.
Similarly, many invited guests including 11 top ranking traditional rulers, business community as well as notable politicians stormed the famous and historical city of Kano for the colourful event, where many citizens reacted that Kano State Governor and his Oyo State counterpart have shown that marriage is all about trust and unity between one tribe and the other as seen in Kano.
President Muhammadu Buhari served as the representative to the groom, while APC leader Bola Tinubu represented the bride as a culture, where the President presented the sum of N50,000 (fifty thousand naira) as dowry for the wedding, which took place at Kano Central Mosque, Emir’s palace.
Most of the peope that spoke to journalists at the event, commended Kano and Oyo states governors for cementing the good relationship that is being enjoyed between the Hausa-Fulani and other Nigerian tribes.
Alhaji Muktari Sa’idu, Dawanau Village head told our corresponent that the marriage has shown that Nigeria is a one united nation where tribes can become couples unlike what some citizens adopt by just marrying from their own tribes.
He called on the Muslim Ummah to copy from what Ajimobi and Ganduje did.
Similarly, the Dan Rimi ward head, Alhaji Musa Sani thanked his highness, the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi the II for his fatherly action whenever there is something important like marriages that were usually held at his palace, and commended the two governors for what they have done as parents which would continue to be a solid foundation to national unity.
