The Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, have joined the teeming populace in Akwa Ibom State to congratulate the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno on his victory at the Supreme Court.
Chairman of the Club, Elder Paul Bassey said the Supreme Court judgment is a clear confirmation of the mandate the electorate of Akwa Ibom State gave to Pastor Umo during the gubernatorial election.
Bassey noted that the judiciary should be commended for sustaining the nation’s democracy through its fair and decisive judgement of the case.
“I, on behalf of Akwa United Football Club wish to congratulate our amiable Governor Pastor Umo Eno on his victory at the Supreme Court, which confirmed him as the duly elected governor of Akwa Ibom State.
“The Supreme Court judgment has put to rest all the distractions and the judiciary must be commended for deepening the tenets of our democracy by ensuring that the choice of Pastor Umo Eno by the electorate at the polls was not cut short. This judgement has given hope to Nigerians that the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man.
“At a time like this in the history of Akwa Ibom State, we need a goal-oriented leader like Pastor Umo Bassey who has a developmental blueprint for our state through his Arise Agenda programme that will bring sustainable development and progress to the people of the state especially in sports.
Elder Paul Bassey urged political stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State from all political affiliations to accept the judgement in good faith and join hands with Pastor Umo Eno in taking the state to an enviable height.
Recall the Supreme Court on Thursday, dismissed the appeals of All Progressives Congress (APC), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Young Progressive Party (YPP) that challenged the victory of Pastor Umo Eno of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the March 18 2023 elections.
