3 Victims Of Christmas Eve Church Attack Buried Amidst Tears In Ebonyi

The three Victims of an attack at Immaculate Catholic Church, Ngwagu Abakaliki have been laid to rest on Saturday in their family compounds respectively.

The attack which happened on Christmas Eve inside Immaculate Catholic Church, claimed three lives comprising two  church security men and one member of the church.

The killers invaded the church while a priest was celebrating vigil mass, killed three worshippers and injured many others, according to the Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese.

Bishop Nworie Chukwu  described the incident as sad and disheartening and prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls.

He urged the faithful to pray for unity and progress of Ebonyi and Nigeria.

It was gathered that the attackers targeted one Mr. Cylil Obinna Mbam, who was inside the church but was invited out by the hoodlums unknowingly before he was shot dead, while two other boys, Solomon Onyedikachi Alo and Mathew Ebuka Nwifuru  who were also gunned down were  church security men who came for his rescue but were killed in the process.

On Saturday, the three victims were laid to rest following the burial mass conducted by the Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese, Bishop Nworie Chukwu at Immaculate Catholic Church Ngwagu before taking them to their respective compounds for interment.

However, information from a close source to late Mr.Cylil’s family has it that he was married with children, while the other two young men eere single.

Meanwhile, the remote cause of the attack has not been identified and those that are behind it are yet to be arrested.

When contacted, the Commissioner of Police In Ebonyi State, Mrs Augustina Ogbodo did not respond to phone calls as at the time of this report.
