Nigeria’s sensational Guinness World Record breaker in the category of marathon chess play, Tunde Onakoya has revealed his admiration for Giannis Antetokoumpo in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Tunde who is currently in Dakar, Senegal at the ongoing Basketball Africa League season 4 Sahara Conference disclosed to media his growing relationship with the game of basketball.
Giannis Antetokoumpo, Nigerian born Greek basketball player is an NBA champion, twice most valuable player and eight times NBA All-Star.
“This is my second time watching professional basketball but I am a big fan of Giannis Antetokoumpo in the NBA. Many of the youth I am mentoring are also in love with the game which opens the door for collaboration between Chess In Slums Africa and basketball initiatives in the nearest future,” Tunde stated.
On his Chess In Slums Africa project, he explained that, “we are looking at expanding beyond Nigeria, giving opportunities to children and youth across Africa to access the game of chess, with Senegal very high on our list.”
The chess champion will be watching by the courtside and showing support to Rivers Hoopers as they take on AS Douanes in the second round of games on match day 4 tonight from 7pm Nigerian Time.
