Journalists and Media practitioners arriving Ghana for the African Games which begins officially today in Accra, have consistently been subjected to hours of waiting without anyone to attend to them at the Accreditation centre in Car Park 4 at the Airport.

As at yesterday, some Nigerian  and other foreign journalists who arrived the venue to pick up their Media tags by 8am, did not see anyone to attend to them as they had to wait till about 11am before officials of the LOC came around.

The trauma of waiting for too long to pick up media accreditation for an event that should have volunteers stationed permanently at the venue continued today,  as several journalists who arrived by 4am were yet to see anyone to attend to them as at 9am Ghanaian time.

A Nigerian journalist, Ken who shared his bitter experience, feared  if the accreditation has finished, as he was surprised that the designated venue was permanently locked as at the time of filling this report.

‘Are you sure that they still have accreditation left?”‘ Ken queried.

“We  have been here since 4am and as at 9am, there is no one here to attend to us,” he complained.

For an event of this magnitude, the global practice has always been assigning volunteers or members of the LOC run shifts at such venues to ensure that someone must always be on ground to attend to media practitioners on arrival.

The LOC needs to look critically into this to avoid keeping Media practitioners waiting upon arrival at the venue to pick up their accreditations.
