*Hope rises on Gov Makinde’s approval of Oba Olakulehin as New Olubadan

An end seems to have come to the delay in the approval of the appointment of Olubadan designate Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, yesterday, withdrew his suit against members of Olubadan-In-Council over wearing of beaded Crown
This indication emerged through
one of the aides to High Chief Ladoja, Alhaji Adeola Oloko, who confirmed that the counsel to High Chief Ladoja is expected to approach the court tomorrow (Wednesday) for enrollment order .
Alhaji Oloko maintained that after the enrollment order, the defendants in the suit will be served with the case withdrawal notice.
“Baba has withdrawn the case filed against the Olubadan-In-Council from the Court. This will facilitate the enthronement of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland”, he said.
The aide added, “Ladoja has lived up to his promise to the people of Ibadanland to withdraw the case from the court”.
Alhaji Oloko emphasized” There is no longer any delay from his end. What is next now is for Gov Makinde to approve the nomination of Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan.”
New Nigerian recalled that High Chief Rashidi Ladoja in July last 2023 instituted the suit against Gov Seyi Makinde over the beaded wearing crown , after the approval of the elevation of the Ibadan High Chiefs to Obas following Olubadan’s recommendation.
It was learnt that few weeks ago after the demise of late Oba Lekan Balogun and with the intervention of some stakeholders’ in Ibadan, High Chief Ladoja indicated his willingness to withdraw the suit.
High Chief Ladoja was said to have gave a condition that the two parties must sign the terms of settlement as prepared, saying,
“Myself and other members of Olubadan-in-Council have been sitting together and talking. We have agreed to withdraw the case from court”.
“I heard that they have started signing the agreement. After all of them have signed, I will also sign my own aspect, and the next day, we will file for withdrawal of the case from court.” he said.
