5,000 Housing Units To Be Provided For Customs Officers Across Nigeria – Comptroller General.

Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr Bashir Adewale Adeniyi on Monday, disclosed that 5,000 housing units are to be provided for Customs officers across the country

The Comptroller General said this 

at the commissioning and hand -over of houses to beneficiaries of Coop Pacesetter Estate built for Customs officers in Oyo/Osun Area Command at Ajoda, Ibadan.

He stated that this is part of the efforts of the Nigeria Customs Service to ensure the overall welfare of the officers, adding that the provision of the welfare packages is to boost morale of customs officers across the country remains his priority. 

” NCS has embarked on ambitious projects which aim to construct 5,000 housing units nationwide.The visionary initiatives seek to provide a stable foundation imploring them to invest in their families and future”, he said 

The Comptroller General added, ” NCS has instituted an array of welfare programmes initiatives, recognition and awards instituted to celebrate exceptional performance, dedication and achievements which serve as catalyst to boost morale and motivation.”

“Concurrently, community engagement initiatives actively encourage our officers to partake in social responsibility support programmes recognising the interconnectedness of personal and professional lives, extend services and benefits to the families of our officers.”

Mr Adeniyi maintained further that “Through these initiatives, Customs will foster an environment where our officers would not only flourish in their professional capacities but also experience profound sense of well-being and fulfilment”.

He stated that in addition to array of welfare programmes outlined for officers of NCS, in order to cushion the harmful effects of the fuel subsidy, he had signed a document for the payment of N35,000 to all officers of Customs starting from September this year.

” It is part of our efforts to prioritize the welfare of our officers. We are focusing on mental, physical and overall welfare and wellbeing of our officers to ensure optimum performance.We have institutionalized  array of welfare packages to boast morale of officers across the country. We are empowering our officers to involve in community activities and community services so as to foster harmonious relationship between the customs and the public” . 

The Comptroller General stressed, ” in our efforts to address the problem faced by officers while looking for accomodation, we have decided to build 5,000 housing units in Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Ibadan, Giri, Masala and Port-Harcourt. This in turn will provide a foundation of stability for our officers, allowing them to invest in their families and futures and ultimately serve our nation even more effectively”. 

Leader, Cooperative Society of Nigeria, Mr Ayeola Tajudeen, and another partner, Mr Kabir Ayinde disclosed that the project is intended to cover 5,000 housing units and it will cost N90 billion and that in every quarter of year 2024, 250 housing units will be provided and this will provide jobs for Nigerians.
