No fewer than 27,000 farmers are to benefit from 300 cartons of fertilizer valued at N6m to 1,000 farmers in each of the 27 LGA’s in Jigawa State by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate of the state, Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido.
The fertilizer which was distributed free of charge to farmers representatives at the PDP Secretariat in Dutse, is said to be of high quality, enriched with all the required ingredients recommended for all variety of yields.
Shedding more light on the fertilizer, Malam Audu Umar an an agricultural expert, said, “this fertilizer is a new innovation prepared in gallons as against sacks and is enriched with all the needed and required chemicals serving for two purposes, as fertilizer, and pesticide.
Making the presentation on behalf of Dr. Mustapha Sule Lamido, his running mate, Dr. Babandi Ibrahim Gumel charged the beneficiaries to utilize the commodity judiciously.
“I call upon you farmers on the need to make good use of this commodity. This fertilizer was given to you free of charge as a motivation in boosting your morale for bumper harvest in food production, never sell it,” he said.
Also speaking, the Jigawa PDP Chairman, Alh. Idris Diginsa commended Dr. Santuraki for the gesture and called on others to emulate the laudable initiative, so that together, they can forge ahead.
In his remarks, the Chairman PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Alhaji Isa Ahmed Bahutu cautioned farmers representative on the distribution of the fertilizers.
He warned them not to engage in diversion, informing that a monitoring committee has been put in place to ensure that the commodity reaches the beneficiaries, warning that any one caught diverting the product, will be dealt with.
