Again Kaduna Makes History, Becomes First Sub National To Implement National Chat Of Account

As a sub national, Kaduna State has again made history, by becoming the first to implement the National Chat of Account, a component of governance that promotes transparency and accountability.

The Honourable Commissioner, Planning and Budget Commission, Kaduna State, Hajiya Umma Yusuf Aboki disclosed this when speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of 16th Economic Planning Board ((EPB) Meeting at the Kadunà State Planning and Budget Commission on Wednesday August 3, 2022.

She said  that the platform was introduced to make the 23 LGAs alligned with the state in implementing the National Chat of Account.

“The 16th edition  of the EPB is concentrated on the National Chat of Account to make Kaduna State first to implement,” she said.

When asked to comment on the 2022 budget  performance of the LGAs, she said that although.it has not been reviewed, she is  optimistic that it would be well implemented 

“We are confident that when we do a full review, it would be a huge success,” she said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Association of Local Government Of NIgeria (ALGON),  Kaduna State, Honourable Abubakar Buba  said that the 16th EPB was a huge success.

 Buba who is the chairman of Lere LGA, explained that   a lot of issues were  discussed and they  reached agreement on  implementation of National Chat of Accounts.

“We give kudos to His Excellency, Malam Nasir el-Rufai for giving us opportunity.

“We equally thank Ministry for  Local Government Affairs and the Planning and Budget Commission for making this opportunity.  

“Kaduna is first to cascade  into the National Chat of Accounts. Kaduna State  has moved ahead and the LGAs are following up.  We are proud to be part  of the success story His Excellency has brought to the state,” he said.

On Kaduna’s position as the fifth with highest number of registered voters in the country after the close of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise  which ended on July 31, he described it as a welcome development.

“Our position in Kaduna State on the number.of registered voters  is an excellent one. It has to do with motivation we received from his Excellency.

“Five months back, our position on voters record was not what it is now Kaduna State is among top five in the country in terms of voters registration,” he said.

Speaking further, the ALGON chairman said that they are also excited about the success being recorded in partnership with KEDENAP and others in reducing the cases of malnutrition in the state.

“In terms of  nutrition, every LGA is donating N1m every month for the provisions of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). 

“Lere for example that has boundary with Bauchi, Plateau and Kano states, their people come to benefit from the laudable project initiated  for our children to have sound health,” he said.

The meeting was organised by the Planning and Budget Commission in collaboration with  the Ministry for Local Government Affairs
