Aggrieved youths from Dutsen Kura Gwari, a suburb of Minna, the Niger state capital, an area that has been without electricity supply due to damaged power transformers have condemned the neglect of the area by politicians and vowed to withdraw their support to all their elected representatives at next general elections.
The youths singled out the Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Hon Ahmed Marafa for their grouse by his refusal to intervene in their call for the  replacement of damaged transformer at Dutsen Kura Gwari and warned that a day of reckoning would soon come.
The angry youths accused the Speaker of abandoning them after being voted into office just as they decried the collapse of all economic activities and businesses in the area as a result of the power outage.

A vast section of Dutsen Kura-Gwari has been without electricity supply from the national grid for a better part of the year 2016 due to damaged power transformer.
Spokesperson of the youths, Usman Choji expressed anger with the government’s apparent neglect of the area just as they regretted voting for those who have shown no concern over the plight of the communities at Dutsen Kura Gwari area.
Efforts to contact the Speaker, Hon. Ahmed Marafa to clarify some of the issues raised by the youths proved abortive when our correspondent visited the Assembly complex as the Clerk said, “It is not possible for you to see the Speaker now”.
