The Group Managing Director of Safari 54, Dr. Shedrack Madlion, a revererd professional in agriculture in Zimbabwe has faulted Kadunna State government’s anchor borrowers programme.
Speaking at the 1st Southern Kaduna Economic Summit held in Kaduna, Madlion said the anchor borrowers programme is wrong at this time.
He said: “People that take decision for farmers are not farmers and we have always seen a repeated decimal in this same circumstances where the agricultural financing and the implementation are wrongly implemented.
“The result that’s coming out of it is not commiserate to the amount of resources been pronounced.”
Dr. Madlion said: “I am in the field as a professional, If the people of Kaduna State today are buying a bag of rice at the price of N11,500, what will be the price in Calabar and Lagos how will they buy a bag of maize? Which means the programme has not yielded the required result.”
He maintained that there was need for Nigerians to tell themselves the truth with facts and figures.
Dr. Madlion who was a guest speaker at the occasion disclosed that ” If you can make life meaningful in Kaduna, you can make it anywhere in the world.”
He charged Southern Kaduna people to take responsibility and equally do things differently.
According to him, if Belphins company in Aduwan- Kafanchan had known how much his product is been sold in one of the European Countries he visited, they won’t play with the production. “I saw Belphins label products. I was shocked,” he added.
The convener, Barr Audu Maikori who is also the president of Chocolate city, said, ”The program is aimed at harnessing our ideas toward changing our plight.”
Maikori called on Southern Kaduna people to stop complaining about government not doing enough in their area, adding that government cannot do enough.
“But God has done enough for us. The discovery of Nickel in Southern Kaduna is a huge blessing and there is need to start thinking about ourselves and think in the same direction with the government,” Maikori said.
