A Kaduna State High Court I, sitting at Dogarawa Zaria has granted bail to Abubakar Haliru, who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping.of his cousin sister, Hajiya Binta Muhammad, a Zaria based businesswoman.
Abubakar Haliru was arraigned before the High Court Dogarawa Zaria, Kaduna State on January 11, over alleged kidnapping, contrary to the provisions of Section 246 of Penal Code Laws of Kaduna State.
The court said it granted the bail on health grounds as the defendant was having serious cough during court proceedings, which can be infectious and dangerous to the people attending the sitting.
Justice Kabiru Dabo, the Presiding Judge said the court considered the application for the bail under sec 35 and 36 (5) of the 1999 constitution.
Also under Sec 174 (1) and (2) (a) and (c) of the administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kaduna State 2017.
The condition of the bail includes a house with C of O worth N10 million, situated within the jurisdiction of the court to be deposited and the person standing for the bail must have at least N10 million in his bank account and to deposit a cheque of such amount in the court.
The court however, proceeded on Judges Vacation and would resume on September 19, 2022 for the continuation of hearing of the remaining of one witness on October 18, 2022.
