The Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Malam Yakubu Ibn Muhammad, has urged parents to be concerned about the conduct of their children and to desist from surrendering responsibilities to house maids.
He said there was the need for parents, particular Muslims to inculcate in their children the knowledge of the Qur’an, especially now that society is bedeviled by series of social vices.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 31st Annual Qur’an competition Plateau State, held at the main conference hall of JNI
Represented by, Zonal ydirector NTA Jos Network Center, Malam Nurrudeen Adesuna Idris, the DG, said: “The importance of Qur’an cannot be over emphasised.”
The DG who was also the chairman of the occasion, further urged parents to encourage children and wards to learn and interpret the Quran.
The Plateau State Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dayyabu Garga, said there was the need for the spreading of Qur’an recitation.
He said Qur’an recitation will help in maintaining peace and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
He harped on the need for peaceful conduct of local government elections by the people of the state.
“Everybody must come on board, security is everybody’s business,” he added.
Commissioner Garga, called on the people and journalists to aid security by giving out vital information that will help curb the activities of criminals and arms stocking.
At the end of the event, Anas Thahir, became the overall winner having scored 87 points, and is to represent Plateau State, at the annual national competition scheduled for Katsina State.
